Aishwarya Lekshmi is an Indian actress and producer who primarily works in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. A qualified doctor (MBBS) who practiced as a model before entering films, she made a successful transition to acting with her 2017 Malayalam debut Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela. She quickly established herself as a leading actress with critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, most notably the 2017 romantic thriller Mayaanadhi, which earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. Her notable roles include the strong female lead in Varathan (2018), and her widely praised portrayal of Poonguzhali in Mani Ratnam's massive Tamil epic Ponniyin Selvan: I and Ponniyin Selvan: II. Known for her discerning choice of roles, she has also ventured into production with the Tamil film Gargi and has expanded her acting career to the Telugu industry.
