Blessy Ipe Thomas, known mononymously as Blessy, is a celebrated Indian film director and screenwriter predominantly working in Malayalam cinema, recognized for his sensitive handling of complex human emotions and social issues. He began his career as an assistant to legendary filmmakers like Padmarajan and Lohithadas. He made his critically acclaimed directorial debut with Kaazhcha (2004), and further cemented his reputation with films like Thanmathra (2005), which won him a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam, and Pranayam (2011). His latest and most ambitious work is the survival drama Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life (2024), which took over 16 years to bring to the screen and is an adaptation of Benyamin's acclaimed novel. Blessy is known for eliciting compelling, award-winning performances from his lead actors, often featuring superstars like Mammootty and Mohanlal, and is a recipient of multiple National and Kerala State Film Awards.
