About Indrans
K. Surendran, widely known by his stage name Indrans, is an acclaimed Indian actor and former costume designer who primarily works in Malayalam cinema. Born in Thiruvananthapuram, he started his career in the early 1980s as a tailor and costume designer before transitioning into acting, making his debut in the 1981 film Choothattam. He initially became a popular fixture in the industry throughout the 1990s and 2000s, where his lean physique and distinctive style of dialogue delivery made him a favorite in comedic and supporting roles in over 550 films. However, Indrans achieved his greatest critical acclaim later in his career by shifting to more nuanced character and lead roles. This evolution was recognized with major honors, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for Aalorukkam (2018) and a Special Mention at the National Film Awards for his poignant performance as Oliver Twist in the critically acclaimed film Home (2021). Other notable films that highlight his dramatic versatility include Apothecary and Veyilmarangal.
