About Lal
Lal, whose real name is Paul Michael, is a renowned Indian actor, director, producer, and screenwriter known for his major contributions to Malayalam cinema. With a career of more than three decades, Lal has built a strong reputation for his versatile acting, powerful screen presence, and natural style of performance. He has also appeared in Tamil and Telugu films, gaining recognition across South India. Lal began his career in the film industry as a filmmaker with Siddique, forming the famous director duo Siddique–Lal. Together, they created some of the most celebrated Malayalam comedy films such as Ramji Rao Speaking, In Harihar Nagar, Godfather, and Vietnam Colony. These movies became classics and played a huge role in shaping Malayalam comedy during the late 1980s and 1990s. After the partnership ended professionally, Lal shifted his focus toward acting and film production. As an actor, Lal is known for delivering intense, realistic, and memorable performances. He has acted in several popular films including Thilakkam, Kanmadam, Salt N Pepper, Run Baby Run, Amen, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, and Driving Licence. His performance in Ayyappanum Koshiyum brought him strong critical acclaim and cemented his position as one of the finest senior actors in Malayalam cinema. Lal is also active as a producer and director, contributing to successful projects such as Thommanum Makkalum and 2 Harihar Nagar.
