Lokesh Kanagaraj is a highly acclaimed Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer primarily known for his game-changing work in Tamil cinema. Born on March 14, 1986, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, he initially majored in Fashion Technology and completed his MBA before working as a bank employee. Driven by a passion for filmmaking, he transitioned into the industry after gaining recognition from director Karthik Subbaraj in a corporate short film competition, making his official debut with a segment in the 2016 anthology Aviyal followed by his acclaimed first feature, Maanagaram (2017). He quickly rose to prominence by spearheading blockbusters like Kaithi (2019), Master (2021), Vikram (2022), and Leo (2023), establishing the massive Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Renowned for his gritty, raw, and hyper-stylized action sequences, he recently expanded his horizons by launching his production banner, G Squad, directing the superstar Rajinikanth in Coolie, and stepping in front of the camera for his leading acting debut as Devadas in Arun Matheswaran's romantic action thriller DC.
